Now, on to the recipe. Let’s make this MINTY WHITE SANGRIA;

Ingredients for Minted White Sangria include: dry white wine, brandy, sugar, peaches and mint.

WHAT IS SANGRIA?

Let’s get right to it and begin by answering that all-important question; “What is sangria typically made of?” SANGRIA is an alcoholic beverage originating in Spain and Portugal. A punch, Sangria usually consists of red wine, chopped fruit and then additional enhancements such as other alcoholic spirits, sweetening agents like sugar or honey as well as an effervescent soda or seltzer water. We decided to craft a white sangria for this post using white wine, brandy, sugar, peaches and mint.

Bottles of assort dry white wine plus brandy, Grand Marnier and dark rum.

WHITE WINE AND BRANDY

To create a white sangria recipe we suggest using a crisp white wine like Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Vermentino, or Grenache Blanc. Try to pick a slightly acidic, dryer wine with a  fresh crisp flavour. We then paired the white wine with brandy which adds memorable caramel notes to the beverage. Don’t like brandy? Try this cocktail using Grand Marnier, Peach Schnapps or a favourite dark rum. Pro-tip; make sure the wine is good and cold before adding it to the muddled fruit and brandy mixture. You want the punch cold before straining the liquid into the iced glasses.

Fresh peaches and bunch of fresh mint.

MINT AND PEACHES

Sangria can be made using virtually any fresh fruit and citrus. Although nectarines, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, apples, pineapple pears, lime and oranges we all contenders, we decided to make this recipe using perfectly ripened, locally grown peaches. The peaches add just the right amount of sweetness to the mix. We then partnered the peaches with fresh mint that gets muddled with the peaches but is also used as a garnish; nice touch.

Assorted glassware and pitchers.

GLASSWARE

Although we elected to serve this MINTY WHITE SANGRIA in oversized, bulbous wine glasses, other glasses work too. Feel free to serve your sangria in tall slim glasses, squat old-fashioned glasses or stemless wine glasses too. The most important thing to remember about the glasses, fill them with ice cubes before adding the punch. This libation is best enjoyed very cold.

SERVE

Serving this delightful drink couldn’t be easier. Fill your chosen glasses with ice then strain the liquid into the prepared glass, garnishing the drink with peach slices and fresh mint. If you plan to serve this for a party or chilled get-together, might we suggest partnering it with delicious appetizers like our WHIPPED RICOTTA, STUFFED MUSHROOM CAPS or our LEMON GARLIC BUTTER SHRIMP? Perfect!
