  1. Add a generous quantity of ice, about 12 cups, into a 2-gallon beverage dispenser or punch bowl. Add the tequila, orange liqueur, limeade and lime juice. Stir to combine. Add the the Prosecco and the sliced limes. Stir and top up with more ice.
  2. Serve in glasses rimmed with lime and kosher salt. Garnish with additional lime slices or wedges as desired.
  3. As with all beverages made with alcohol, please remember to enjoy responsibly.

GOOD CHEER

Don’t be too surprised by the very basic ingredient list for this cocktail recipe. Our drink begins with the essential ingredients for a classic MARGARITA; tequila, orange liqueur and lime juice. We suggest using colourless liquors as amber-coloured varieties will make the drink look dark and muddy. 

A pitcher of limeade for the margarita punch

LIMEADE

We’re calling for the addition of a pitcher of limeade in this recipe. Look for cans of this sweet but tangy concentrated drink in the frozen juice section of your grocer. You might want to pick up a few extra cans to have on hand. Make it once and you’ll be making it again and again – guests love it.

SPARKLER

The fizzy part of this libation comes from the addition of a bottle of Prosecco, a sparkling Italian wine. It adds the fizziness that’s so festive on the tongue along with some unexpectedly pleasing grape notes. If finding Prosecco presents a problem, substitute with any sparkling white wine of your choice. That said, I wouldn’t use champagne – I always say, save that premium bubbly for a special celebration!

SALTY STUFF

Please do take a few extra moments to prepare the standard glass treatment for Margaritas, a salted rim. Run a wedge of lime around the rim of the glass, then dip the edge in a bowl or plate containing kosher salt. It’s a fabulous and unique flavour combination – the tangy salty hit on the tongue followed by the lime fizzy punch – wow!
