INGREDIENTS

We absolutely love it when recipes have ingredients that come together in perfect balance. Case in point; this dip recipe. It has a creamy texture from the blended dairy products and a pleasing flavour that’s softer than tzatziki but more robust than hummus. All of the ingredients needed to make this dip are available at your local grocery store or market. Not a bad idea to purchase more than the recipe calls for; you’ll make this recipe again and again.

FETA CHEESE, YOGURT, AND MAYONNAISE

Don’t get too worked up sourcing the dairy items needed for this creamy feta dip recipe. Our only direction is… none of that reduced-fat business! For best results, find a good quality Greek feta packaged in a salty brine. The same goes for the yogurt, which we used here instead of cream cheese. A full-fat Greek yogurt will give this dip lots of flavour, but is also extra creamy, too. Finally, use your favourite mayonnaise for this recipe; something like Hellmann’s, Kewpie or Miracle Whip will all work well.

SEASONING AND FLAVOURS

Dried thyme, oregano and dill combine to add a pleasing flavour to this recipe, but if that wasn’t enough, we added a bit of heat with black pepper and red pepper chili flakes. The last three flavour enhancers are just the thing to take this FETA CHEESE DIP to a whole new level of wow; lemon juice, lemon zest and garlic. Note that this is one of the few recipes on our website where we don’t invite you to season with salt and pepper to taste. The feta cheese used in this recipe is salty enough, so put the shaker down. No need to add more.

The ease of preparation is all thanks to us using one of the handiest small kitchen appliances ever; the food processor. So instead of a whipped feta dip, we went for the blend-and-serve variation. Simply place all of the ingredients into the canister of a food processor fitted with a blade attachment and blend on low to reach your desired consistency. We like tiny flecks of feta cheese floating within this creamy concoction, but you can create yours from extra smooth to still kinda crunchy.

GARNISH

Please promise you’ll follow our lead and garnish this dip with a drizzle of olive oil, a sprinkle of chili flakes, some chopped parsley, and toasted sesame seeds. The sesame seeds can be toasted up in a small skillet over moderate heat; you want them golden brown making them visually pleasing and also wonderfully nutty.

SERVE
