Creamy mayonnaise and sour cream blended with parsley, lime and taco seasoning…
Toss me a taco, pass me those chips, gimme that chicken finger, ‘cause this CREAMY TACO SAUCE is mighty tasty!
This is one of those recipes that happened as a result of me wanting to dress up a main. I’d just finished our OVEN-BAKED NACHOS and felt they needed a little something extra. I whisked together this CREAMY TACO SAUCE, and served up something mighty tasty.
Like so many good things, this sauce partners perfectly with other recipes and, for other purposes. Funny, that!
Here’s why it’s a keeper:
WHAT YA GOT?
Sometimes the best moments in recipe-making happen when we find ourselves crafting something from what we have on hand. Two essential ingredients I always have at the ready are sour cream and mayonnaise.
Sour cream adds a wonderful richness to this sauce, as it did in our very popular CUCUMBER SALAD and this SOUR CREAM COFFEE CAKE. The mayonnaise provides a lovely creaminess just like it did when we blended it with cheddar, Gruyère and Parmesan in OUR BEST GRILLED CHEESE.
HERB BLURB
Although we made the sauce using parsley, feel free to experiment with other fresh herbs like dill, basil, chives, mint, tarragon or rosemary. It will create different and uniquely flavoured dips, sure to please. You can also tailor your herb choice to suit your intended use.
TAKE A DIP
Thankfully, the sky’s the limit when it comes to putting this delicious sauce to good use. I’ve served it with everything from homemade tacos and burgers to fish sticks and crispy CHICKEN FINGERS!
Of course, this recipe adds new meaning to a favourite cottage country expression “take a dip”. I often bring it along with a colourful assortment of fresh veggies when I go to visit friends. Crudités with this sauce served in a dipping bowl is always well received!
Our easy-to-make CREAMY TACO SAUCE is certainly yummy!
