I just spent my first weekend (with husband in tow) at Christmas in November in Jasper and must say it will now become a Holiday tradition. I am a Foods teacher in St. Albert, Alberta so went to this venue with professional development in mind for how I can improve on my food demos for my students. This was the first time I have seen Nik and am beyond impressed. His warmth, knowledge, passion and humor really made an impression on us. In fact of all the presenters I loved how Nik (knowingly or not) was a natural born teacher with his Socratic pedagogy. He asked questions, used the audience’s senses of smell, visualization and touch to present. I loved not only his gingerbread recipe & decorating but also how he decorated the holiday table! I left with a lot of ideas and inspiration. Once I left his presentation, I signed onto “weekendsatthecottage” on Instagram and am now watching some of the recipes on Youtube t.v. I really enjoyed his Christmas tree decorating video he showed in our presentation at Jasper Park Lodge CIN. Does he have many more like that where he discusses decorating themes? I am now a follower and a believer and wanted to send you this email to let you know how impressed I am!
