Greetings dear friends,

Carol and I want to begin by expressing our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you for your continued support of Weekend at the Cottage. We hope everyone shares these sentiments at this time of year – an overwhelming sense of gratitude for all that we have, for that which we can share, and most importantly, for our enduring, treasured friendships. We are so very THANKFUL!


Seems like the perfect segue to suggest some recipes for the Canadian Thanksgiving holiday weekend. If you’re looking for a stellar roast turkey recipe, why not give our DRY SALT-BRINED TURKEY a try – you won’t be disappointed. Accompany it with the skillet sautéed BRUSSELS SPROUTS from one of our City Slicker videos on YouTube, some very creamy GARLIC MASHED POTATOES and the BEST TURKEY DRESSING EVER. For dessert, two options: heavenly SPICED PUMPKIN PIE or SPICED PARSNIP CAKE.

We’ve been busy working on some exciting stories for October. All of the vegans out there will love our CURRIED SQUASH SOUP WITH COCONUT and a FALL SALAD WITH KALE AND PLUMS. The carnivores in our midst will certainly enjoy our perfectly prepared ROAST SIRLOIN OF BEEF. We’re also helping you start weekend mornings on a high note this month; who’s ready for THE GREAT CANADIAN BREAKFAST and baked SWISS APPLE PANCAKES? Yum!


We can’t say too much about our exciting contest giveaway for November, but here’s hint: think ‘holiday décor’.


Carol and I are both super excited to be heading to the Rockies for CHRISTMAS IN NOVEMBER, Canada’s premier culinary and food and beverage event. We’re going to host our next FACEBOOK LIVE EVENT from Fairmont’s Jasper Park Lodge and will share details on the time and date as we get closer to the event.
