JUNE 2019 NEWSLETTER!

The arrival of June has me thinking – what would it be like to live in a world where it’s always summer? Anyone else out there thinking that’s not such a bad idea?

In many ways, June is the month when the best of cottage living kicks into high gear. Whether you’re barbecuing, hosting a meal al fresco, taking that first dip in the lake (brrrr) or just lounging in your favourite quiet spot, it’s time to enjoy the start of summer!

We’re setting a goal this summer to spend less time in the kitchen and more time with friends and family, so our summer theme this year is… easy-to-make recipes! Of course, there will be times when you need an excuse to hide in the kitchen, and for that, we’ve got you covered with this fabulous LEMON MERINGUE PIE!

Want some things to look forward to? How about our GLORIOUS GRILLED LAMB CHOPS (HOW many did you eat, Nik?), and our snack-sensation-in-the-making, OVEN-BAKED NACHOS. We take breakfast to new heights with Chris’ FLUFFY BLUEBERRY PANCAKES, and finally, put your trusty cast iron skillet to good use with a classic CORNBREAD recipe.

Just like Willie, I’m on the road again. On the schedule are visits with our friends at CHCH MORNING LIVE and CTV KITCHENER, as well as a trip back east to see the fun peeps at BT MONTREAL again. The theme of our upcoming road trip – Crunch, Munch, Punch (as in the beverage – I’m a food lover, not a fighter!)

Plates of The Best Broccoli Salad

Thanks to everyone who gave last month’s food and drink recipes a try – pretty amazing, right? In case you missed them, here’s a quick refresher on some tasty stuff you’re going to want to try real soon.

If healthy, delicious and easy-to-make salads are your thing, try both our KALE, CARROT AND PARMESAN SALAD and the BEST BROCCOLI SALAD ever. I know I say it often, but it’s worth repeating – what would time at the cottage be without the chance to share it with friends? In my mind, the real magic of a weekend at the cottage comes from the time spent with guests.

Over the years I’ve met some incredible chefs and foodies, and I’ve invited a few of them up this summer to share their favourite recipes. Carol and I have already shot a couple of videos with our first few GUEST STARS, and oh my goodness, we should have done this years ago. You’re gonna love these visits – let’s hear it for weekend guests and special GUEST STARS!
