Let’s get the most pressing stuff out of the way – Happy New Year!

And we REALLY mean it! Carol and I seriously wish you all good things: health, happiness, and continued prosperity. Also, thank you for letting us be a part of your day-to-day celebration of life. We’re hoping we can help make every day feel like a weekend at the cottage – yay!

WHAT A YEAR!

Although last year seemed to go by in a flash, we sure did enjoy it. Most memorable were the times spent with our dearest friends and family. We loved 2018 for the many times it reminded us to stop, take stock and appreciate the good times. Not every day was spent dozing on the dock though, and perhaps like you, we were handed some lemons. Thankfully, we remembered to toss out the contents of our half-empty glasses and refill them to the brim with lemonade, even the GRILLED variety.

WHAT YOU LIKED

2018 wins a prize for ideas that made you hungry or thirsty and excited. Some of our most popular posts include our tasty TURKEY TACOS, a refreshing FENNEL, RADICCHIO & CITRUS SALAD, and my personal fave, VEGAN VEGETABLE CURRY. You also raised a glass or two thanks to us and enjoyed our PIMM’S CUP, our lovely APPLE BLOSSOM COCKTAIL and a series of healthy concoctions like our TROPICAL SMOOTHIE. Try one, try all.

WHAT’S TO COME

As we welcome what promises to be our best year yet, Carol and I want to invite you to send story ideas or suggestions to contact@weekendatthecottage.com. We already have a bunch of fabulous things on deck (or dock) like SLAW BLAH BLAH, a rich and creamy HAZELNUT TIRAMISU, our hearty LAMB & BELGIAN BEER STEW and tons more. Our content calendar for the coming year is chockablock with wonderful stuff, so get ready for some truly wonderful things on the way.

RESOLUTIONS

What about those New Year’s resolutions? Carol and I had a lengthy discussion about these elusive intentions and, no surprise, we’re of two minds. Carol likes to make up her annual list and tell everyone about them. Me, not so much. I’m thinking one resolution is just about all I can handle.

If you’re reading this and thinking, “Come on Nik, start us off on a health kick and give us the goods on healthy food and drink ideas!”, that’s easy – head HERE for a roundup of some flavourful and good-for-you recipes to start the new year off on the right foot.

Beyond that, how about one suggestion for a resolution that I’ve found especially important of late? “To thine own self be true.” If it worked for the Bard, then I’m all for it!

That’s it for now. Onwards and upwards as we embark on a new year filled with good things for each and all.

All our love and best regards, dear friends!

Nik – together with Carol and the team at Weekend at the Cottage
