Scott Cook from Chicago sent Weekend at the Cottage an e-mail asking what we serve for the holidays. Carol and I went through our list of recipes and came away with this collection of favourites.
The recipes get top marks for ease of preparation, but more importantly, memorable flavours; let’s face it when you’re serving a festive meal to your closest friends and family, it better be amazing. These recipes truly are.
We’ve broken the recipes into various headings, so go through each and customize your meal plan. Whether you’re doing a formal sit down dinner or a more relaxed buffet service, these tasty treats pair well with each other. Our HOLIDAY DINNER RECIPES sure are tasty!
We have a number of fun and festive cocktails that promise to warm your hearts; how about a MERRY & BRIGHT COCKTAIL, a SMOKIN’ RYE & GOSLING, our festive CHRISTMAS COSMO or our MALIGNE MARTINI – each and every one fabulously fun!
Start your get-together off with a few munchies all of which will disappear in no time. Try our POGAČICE – Serbian cheese puffs, fabulously hot and spicy BAKED CRAB DIP DIABLO, and two of our most devilish starters, DEVILED EGGS and DEVILED POTATOES!
Three stellar recipes that elicit both oohs and aahs and requests for second and third helpings! Although it’s tough, try to pick one – ROAST GOOSE, our super-tender SIRLOIN TIP ROAST or our incredible DRY-BRINED TURKEY.
Traditional side dishes that go with all of our suggested mains include GARLIC MASHED POTATOES, our LIME-GINGER CARROTS and a recent addition to our list, classic bean casserole. That said, you might also enjoy some less traditional sides like our SKILLET SPROUTS, our spicy RED LENTIL SIDE DISH and our SEEDY CAULIFLOWER. Lastly, if you’re making our ROAST GOOSE, you must make our GOOSE FAT ROASTED POTATOES which are divine, too!
We’ll be posting an absolutely scrumptious UPSIDE DOWN QUINCE GINGERBREAD CAKE on December 11, just in time for the holidays. We suggest making it along with a unique and interesting assortment of cookies and confections. You’ll find all of our HOLIDAY BAKING suggestions on our YouTube playlist. Click HERE to view it.
