Loving this new year!

OK, I’m not joking – is anyone else feeling like this year is going to be incredible? There must be something in the air, because about 99% of the people I ran into last month were super happy, smiling, positive and upbeat. I keep reminding myself to pledge the same – here’s to a month filled with good vibes. It’s a good month to be kind and loving to each other too.

SCAVOLINI & WATC

Scavolini Kitchen

So maybe some of the above excitement comes from the fact that I’ve got a hot date – actually Carol and I have a hot date with the talented team at SCAVOLINI TORONTO. We’ll be cooking up a storm in their showrooms on Thursday, February 7 with guests enjoying some delicious food and drinks.

If you’re in the GTA and want to attend, here’s your chance. We’ll be drawing the names of two lucky WATC subscribers on Monday, February 4 at noon LIVE on Facebook. All you need to do is forward this email to 3 friends, copying contact@weekendatthecottage.com when you do.

THIS YEAR

Chocolate Celebration Cake

So Carol and I are excited, as in like really, really excited. We took a few days last week to go through all of the content for 2019! We looked at every post, recipe, camera angle, shot list, prop and ingredient… gotta tell you, it’s going to be a delicious and very entertaining year.

What can we say about 2019? Here’s a tiny little sampling to get everyone excited: chocolate cake, a cottage bedroom makeover, Eggs in the Basket, champagne, crown roast, guest stars (wait until you see who’s coming to chill at the cottage!), contests and a whole lot more. Sheesh, this is gonna be GOOD!

CTV & CHCH

December 2018 Newsletter

Speaking of guests stars, that’s what I’ll be doing on Monday, February 25 when Weekend at the Cottage returns to both Morning Live on CHCH Hamilton and the News at Noon on CTV Kitchener. Check your local listings and tune in for tips on healthy comfort foods and things you’ll want to have on hand for cozy, winter weekends.

WINTER FARE

To all of our subscribers in Australia (hi, Helen!), New Zealand and South America – yes, we’re jealous! We hear your winter is gorgeous, hot and sunny. Up here north of the equator, not so much – we’re knee deep in the snow. Thankfully, our ideas for winter fare include a CHORIZO AND SHEPHERD PEPPER SKILLET, a creamy, tangy APPLE FETA SLAW, a roasted PORK TENDERLOIN, and an easy OVEN ROASTED POTATO side dish. Stay tuned!

LOOKING BACK

Creamy Seafood Chowder

Maybe we should be been prepared for the runaway success of that crazy delicious SEAFOOD CHOWDER. I guess the simplicity of OMA’S APPLE CAKE tickled your fancy. We love the fact that so many of you loved and tried that GREEK BREAKFAST WRAP. Thanks as always for trying our ideas and sharing them with your friends.

WHAT TO EAT

Roasted Pork Tenderloin

New for February is our MID-MONTH MAILER, which we’ll be doing on the regular now. Carol will be taking the helm on this one and is specifically aiming to answer your requests for complete menu suggestions.
