Hello everyone,

I can’t tell you how exciting it is to finally type these words – HAPPY SPRING!

Although we’ve had a relatively mild winter, I’m over it. The thought of warm weather brings to mind one important thing: it’s almost cottage season.

We have so many exciting things in the works that we can hardly wait to share them with you, our dear friends. Here’s what’s coming up:

We have loads of delicious food, tasty drinks and entertaining tips on deck, including some of my favourite things like a lesson on SPRING FLOWER ARRANGING, Nanny’s famous BAKED HAM, my family’s recipe for a traditional Serbian EASTER BREAD, a crumbly never-fail COFFEE CAKE and so much more. Stay tuned for some seriously fabulous and wonderful things!

I recently went on a trip down south and reconnected with my friend Sue Henderson. She’s the talented woman behind Suetables, a store on Mount Pleasant Road in Toronto that features personalized sterling silver and 14K gold-dipped jewelry. You can peruse their wonderful online shop at suetables.com.

Sue, Carol and I thought this would be the perfect time to offer a giveaway. One lucky subscriber will receive a personalized sterling silver KELLY CUFF (pictured above – crazy gorgeous, right?) compliments of SUETABLES! As a subscriber, you’re already entered in the contest but why not double your chances by also subscribing to our YouTube channel? You’ll then have two ballots entered into our contest and we’ll also subscribe you to suetables.com. Tell all your friends to join in too – the more the merrier! We’ll draw the name of the lucky winner at the end of April and announce it on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Last month we asked for suggestions on what you’d like to see over the next few months. Elise from Calgary asked: “Do you have any suggestions for a Canada Day party?”

Well Elise, do we ever!

Carol and I have just finished our plans for June, which we’re dedicating to Canada’s 150th birthday. We have great food and drink recipes in the works, plus some amazing special interest stories sure to make our fellow Canadians both happy, proud and thankful. Stay tuned as we get closer to our celebration and make sure to read our May newsletter – we’ll have a very special announcement in partnership with our friends, Arts at Work!

Tune in to CHCH-TV’s Morning Live show on Tuesday, May 16 as Nik shares some brilliant and delicious ideas for this year’s best make-ahead summer recipes. Check your local television listings and tune in to see Nik live.

We’re so grateful to our loyal subscribers for spreading the word about Weekend at the Cottage. Invite your family, friends and work associates to check out our website, and brighten everyone’s day by sharing our posts through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Also, if you haven’t already, check out our popular DIY recipe videos on YouTube.

That’s it for now. Here’s to a spring filled with our favorite things like good food, good friends, and good times!

Nik ( & Carol too!)
