This WATERMELON FIZZ COCKTAIL is the perfect afternoon treat for a warm summer day!

How many times has this happened: You head to the kitchen with a taste for “something”. You open the fridge, move a few things around, and then find that one ingredient that in turn inspires you to create something amazing. This Watermelon Fizz cocktail came together thanks to one big, juicy watermelon!

The ingredient list for this cocktail is short and the method is straightforward, so I know you’ll be able to prepare it in no time. Ultimately I think this cocktail is about two things: taste and colour.

Here are some suggestions to assist when you make this at the cottage or at home:

1) Use a seedless watermelon.

2) Before juicing your melon, take a melon baller and extract maybe two dozen small balls to be used later as garnish.

3) Process the melon using a professional juicer if you have one. If you don’t, process the melon using a blender, or mash through a fine sieve.

One final thought on this cocktail is which spirit to use. I found that gin produced the most distinct taste but we also made the recipe with vodka, and that was delicious too! Feel free to experiment!

Try our Watermelon Fizz Cocktail today. It truly is colourful deliciousness in a glass!

We offer the above recipe with a reminder to please drink responsibly!

Ingredients & Amounts

  • ounces premium gin
  • 4 ounces watermelon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • splash soda water
  • melon balls and lime zest for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pour gin, watermelon juice and lime juice into an attractive drinking glass. Stir.
  2. Add a few ice cubes then top off with soda water. Gently stir again.
